Why we have chosen this bike
The Rhinovelo Gravel bike, the “RVG”, was designed by local rider and ex Rolls Royce Engineer Pete Collis. Here's the story behind the bike:
Whilst riding around Bali on his road bike in 2014, Pete started finding himself under biked, with his tires and gearing both not wide enough for the terrain he wanted to ride on. It was from here he set about researching and then designing a bike to meet the demands of the terrain he was riding on. The first bike was a Titanium frame with post mount brakes, as it was well before the flat mount standard that is now used today.
At the 2015 Taipei bike show a partnership was then formed, with one of Taiwan’s highest-quality original equipment suppliers (OEM). This OEM supplies some of the world's most renowned brands. Pete, a former aerospace engineer, provided the geometry and shaping whilst the supplier used their 25-year carbon fibre experience, to create the perfect layup for the frame. The result is the Rhinovelo Gravel bike, the “RVG”, a lightweight confidence-inspiring ride, that enables riders to tackle the terrain that they want to, and it’s perfect for exploring Bali.
