Guest Reviews for this trip
This was only my second trip and thus far the best. I liked how the routes were setup with increasing difficulty each day. It gave my legs better chance to improve over the course of the week. The entire staff did a great job and were very personable. We felt like we were leaving old friends at the end of the trip. We also made great connections with the other clients and hope see them on future trips. Everyone got along just great and encouraged each other throughout the trip.
A week like this is why Thomson have my wife and I as repeat customers - a group of riders who were great company; enthusiastic, talented and customer focussed staff who are a pleasure to be with; and a magnificent bike ride across a route with a series of superb climbs and stunning vistas. We were lucky to be able to climb Lagos de Covadonga on a bright, sunny day - it was, for me, the highlight amongst many other memorable experiences.
Fantastic riding with fantastic people! The staff makes these trips such a pleasure to be a part of and I enjoy coming back every year for an annual dose of joyous suffering on my bike!
I absolutely loved the riding in Cantabria. The traffic was minimal. The scenery far exceeded my expectations. The food was, as is usual for Thomson Tours, outstanding. Our guides were very friendly and thoughtful, Ada and Ricard in particular.
One of the best parts of this trip outside of the cycling, guides, and the country of Spain, was the Guests. Was really nice to have all of the guests returning from prior trips. All of the guys were comparable from a ride standard. Didn’t have to wait too long.
Great routes, outstanding leadership and support. We had a very friendly and inclusive group of riders. I highly recommend.
Trans-Cantabria will surprise the most seasoned cyclist with its incredible and varied routes over amazing landscapes culminating in an epic ride (and most likely partial walk!) up the indescribable Angrilu.
Our group has done a number of trips with Thomson. As with the others, the riding was fantastic, the staff was superb, the food was wonderful, and the hotels were great. The Angliru was intense and the Lagos de Cavadonga was amazing.
Trip of a lifetime! Guides, routes, hotels, vibe, logistics were all 100 percent spot on. Rare for everything to line up this well. Far exceeded my expectations, and I expected a lot. Have never had a trip come together as perfect as this one.
Trans-Cantabria is the best trip I have taken so far (this was my fifth Thomson trip). Beautiful mountains and hotels. Jordi, Llibert, Dani, and Cesar were great guides allowing us freedom to test our limits on all aspects of cycling. We rode!
The Thomson tour of Cantabria was exceptional in every way. It’s starts with a well organized staff that seamlessly took care of every detail and simply put were just fun to be with. At the beginning of each day the bikes were ready, the rides were well planned, the roads were smooth and the natural beauty of Northern Spain was truly inspirational. During the rides the support was complete and flawless, lunch was delightful, and the staff provided a well balance approach to each ride and as always leadership to get us to each destination. At the end of each day we looked forward to the outstanding hotels with wonderful food and comfortable rooms that provided us our much needed sleep. Without a doubt this Thompson tour far exceeded my expectations in every way thanks to there great staff, and the warm Spanish culture and natural wonders of Cantabria.
It matched the Angliru in terms of being rated a ‘superlative’!
The carefully planned routes, hotel accommodations, and food made for a very memorable week of riding. The scenery was spectacular whilst riding on quiet roads with very few cars. The ride up to Covadonga is arguably one of the most beautiful climbs in Europe that is both challenging and breathtaking.
Great accommodations, excellent food and outstanding support. In addition, spectacular views and challenging climbs. Nothing better than this!
On numerous occasions Peter and Sergi said their favorite trip was Cantabria, now I understand why. It was an absolutely wonderful trip, and lived up to the lived up to high bar that was set. Just wish Angliru was a little steeper!
Good team spirit. Great ride. Good challenges. Should provide the opportunity for a little bit more cultural/experential discoveries while riding. Would definitely recommend a narrator at night to come and talk about the history and culture of the areas ridden. And the opportunity to visit a few sites during the day.
