The best cycle race in the Southern Hemisphere!
The Santos Tour Down Under is the first race on the UCI calendar and is an unparalleled experience! All the teams and race celebs stay in one Hotel in the centre of Adelaide so prepare to rub shoulders with all your favourites! The Tour is based out of one central location so the teams return to the race village after every stage. There’s lots of entertainment and live interviews on a daily basis, test bikes, cycling gear, competitions and late evening fun in the village, which is within walking distance of our central hotel.
We’ll sample every stage and also enjoy some VIP viewings and attend the infamous Legends dinner, besides sampling all Adelaide has to offer. Golden beaches, wineries, cuddling koalas, historic ports, BBQs ...are just a few of the extras we have planned.
There’s all the Thomson Spectator favorites there – Phil Liggett & Jens Voigt – who happen to be friends of our guide so you are guaranteed a meet. Feel free to bring your bike or hire one for early morning rides, before our programme begins. Our guides can recommend some local easy routes and may even ride with you or you can even join a morning cycle with Phil!
Whether you are living in Australia or overseas, if you like having lots of fun and not having to worry about all the details – join us on our fully guided trip to the Tour Down Under!

Barossa Valley, Wine tasting lunch and race viewing
There’s something very special about the Barossa. You can feel it in the landscape, in the people, the food and the wine. It’s a beautiful region, with villages, vineyards and farms dotting a patchwork vista. It’s here where we head to watch Stage 1! We’ll head over to Penrice-Angaston and watch the first lap of 5, as the peleton pass us for the fist time. We will visit a local vineyard to sample the local wines and enjoy regional local platters of food, before heading out to catch at least another 3 laps. Stage Finish in Stirling
Today the race heads towards Stirling, in the Adelaide Hills. Just 18 kilometres south-east of Adelaide, Stirling is a stylish garden village with a flourishing food scene and fabulous shopping for fashion, plants, collectibles, jewellery, homewares, art and books at the unique shops. Settled in 1854, Stirling has some of the state’s most beautiful homes. Initially the site of orchards and market gardens, the late 19th century saw the town become popular with Adelaide’s wealthy residents who built summer houses. The leafy main street is lined with cafés, restaurants and shops. We’ve booked a restaurant right on the course, that allows us to enjoy the race whilst being wined and dined as it passes us 3 times until it accumulates in excitement for the 4th and final race to the finish line! We will return to Adelaide and in the evening you will get free time, so take the evening to explore Adelaide’s restaurants and bars in the warm summer evening.
