What a beautiful country and amazing experience to see behind the scenes on the Tour de France! This was a bucket list trip and fulfilled our expectations for what a trip like this could be. We had a really good group of rides, we had a really good group of leaders and everyone was so fun to ride with! We originally planned on doing this trip with another couple, one of whom was a non-rider so we signed up for the non-riders welcome group. We could have done the riders only group but in hindsight, we’re glad we joined this group because we met so many great people!!

The whole tour was fantastic. So well organized and the rides were challenging but magnificent. All of the staff were so supportive and friendly. A lifetime experience. Thomson focuses on cycling first with quality rides that pushed my fitness efforts to achieve new climbing personal bests in a unpressured manner. Not a casual tour for occasional cyclists, this is for enthusiasts looking to conquer the famed cols at an attainable pace. Thomson pre-ride communication is excellent, providing pre-ride fitness consultation and information as required. Qualified, friendly support staff remove the pressures of a self-supported ride over unfamiliar territory.

This trip surpassed my expectations. We rode through spectacular landscapes with superior ride leaders who knew how to support a broad spectrum of riders. We were also immersed in Tour de France action and were lucky to see the pro teams when they were our for their rest day rides. Truly a trip of a lifetime.

I had this trip on my to-do list for almost 20 years but kept putting it off because I have never been a fan of guided vacations. Peter and his team turned my opinion on its head. Best. Trip. Ever. Being able to be in the "heart" of the Tour de France and ride the same epic climbs as the pros was amazing. When I later watched the pros tackle those same climbs, it was awesome to be able to really appreciate the grimaces on their faces. And then to top it off with actually being at the finish line or watching from the roadside of a climb as the pros came through took things to the next level. This is my second trip with Thomson and even though I didn’t think much could be improved over the first time, this year exceeded all expectations! It’s truly amazing how Thomson hires such great staff…they make the trip worth every penny. The guests get to ride and just enjoy the views and the challenges without having to worry about logistics or mechanicals or food or anything. It’s the best experience you can have on a bike. The ride over the finish line with the spectators encouraging us, is an experience I will never forget. After the first two days, I was not sure about my ability to complete the rides. After the forth day I was thinking I can do this. The team leaders were a huge help changing my perception of what I could do on the climbs.

Cycling vegans, have no fear. Thomson Bike Tours provided me with excellent vegan meals and snacks without fail to fuel many enjoyable miles over the 6-day Pyrenees Challenge. The only animal suffering was me over the tall mythical mountains of Tour de France legend. Off the bike, I was pampered with excellent mechanical support, a comfy hotel, and cheerful companionship from the other riders and support staff. One highlight was the quiet beauty of the climb to Parc des National Pyrenees. Conversely, another highlight was crossing the finish line at Peyragudes just a few hours before the Tour surrounded by the roaring cheers of impatient cycling fans. Highly recommend!

It was an experience of a lifetime for my cyclist husband, which was my goal in booking it as a 50th birthday gift for him. Incomparable access to the Tour de France, especially the Hautacam day. We met so many nice people, and the guides were excellent (Maria and Manuel, in particular).

This trip surpassed my expectations. Even as a non-rider who was trying to ride, I received a lot of encouragement from the team. The Thomson team is experienced, fun and a great group of people to spend time with. The Tour de France Trip has to be a bucket list trip for anyone who loves to ride and loves the Tour.

Friendliest, most helpful and knowledgeable ride leaders, mechanics and van support (many people performed all 3 roles) made getting up multiple “hors categories” mountain passes possible, fun and unforgettable. Tour de France experience was up close and a once in a lifetime experience.

For a rider that lives the Tour de France and has always dreamed of riding the mountain routes, this trip did not disappoint. The knowledgeable team leaders were perfect to help guide us through each challenge. Thomson’s VIP access and mountain experiences were well done and gave us prime viewing access. The staff treated us like royalty.

It was magic. I had dreamed of such an experience for twenty years, so my expectations were extraordinarily high as they are with any dream. But, riding up famous climbs in the Pyrenees and on Tour de France routes, viewing the race just feet from the riders, being immersed in the French countryside, and visiting with Thomson staff were wonderful beyond my expectations. This was an amazing trip. I travelled on my own and was not sure how I would find this - the level of the other cyclists in the group, or the overall experience. The people I met on the trip will, I hope, be lifelong friends. I would do this again trip again in a heartbeat! This is my second trip to Tenerife with Thomson and I will go again. The rides are challenging, the roads are in great condition, the scenery is beautiful and diverse-from volcanic lava deserts to rainforests-and the traffic is minimal. All this, and at the end of the day you are at a luxurious seaside resort where you can sleep by a quiet pool before enjoying a fantastic meal. The rooms are clean, spacious and well-appointed. Looking forward to my next visit to Tenerife with Thomson!

This was an early season camp. The riding was hard but this is what it is meant to be! The staff are amazing and encouraging. It keeps me coming back for more.

I couldn't think of a better way to ride and watch many of the Spring Classic monuments. Great people, amazing riding, good camaraderie, and an overall incredible Spring Classics experience. The VIP access to the events was first class. One of my most memorable bike trip experiences for sure.

I enjoyed this trip tremendously. It provided challenge, adventure, great food and company. The photo opportunities were endless, from natural rock formations, fields of flowers to mountains and villages. The history and culture of the area is fascinating from Moorish influence to Picasso. The staff and support were excellent.

The epic trans Portugal trip was another outstanding Thomson adventure. While the climbs are less intense the the classic mountain ranges of Europe the overall distance and cumulative climbing is challenging and there are some epic days like Torre. The roads are quiet and nearly car free. The Thomson team, as always, is the highlight of the trip. They’re extremely attentive to the needs of the riders on the road and for meals. They also engage well with the guests and are entertaining to be around. I strongly recommend this trip for those who want to see a beautiful part of Europe on back roads, stay in spectacular converted monasteries, and enjoy the local culture and the cobbled streets of remote Portugal.

Portugal is a magical place for cycling with great tarmac, steep climbs, sweeping descents, and fantastic food. The hotels include converted monasteries where your prayers for good food, wine, and strong legs are answered. The Thomson staff deliver an unforgettable cycling experience in roads even the locals can’t find.

The Trans Swiss trip is truly a spectacular experience with amazing scenery, challenging climbs, and great support from the Thomsen team. The Trans Swiss trip is as much a bucket list adventure as the Alps, Pyrenees, and Dolomites trips. The Thomsen team has really elevated their on the road support with great food and a new generation of guides who are highly motivated to provide a great experience for the customers.

I have been on so many Thompson Trips that I have lost count. Consistently, the staff are bright, fun, responsible, and knowledgeable. When unexpected events occur (which of course always happens to some extent), they are calm and flexible. They also make a great effort to interact individually with the riders. This is a real differentiator, as it would be so much easier for them to just "go through the motions." And this transforms the experience for the riders. Llibert and Clara were among the best ride leaders/staff that I have met at Thompson and were wonderful to spend time with.

When you combine the Swiss beauty, the roads, the people, and EPIC climbs with fast descent, you end up with a week long a jaw dropping rides! I love every moment of the adventure and will be back in a Thomson Tour!

This Epic tour exceeded my expectations for a challenging 7 days. I had no idea going into this that I would be able to complete all routes. 10k’+ a day! I came away a better and stronger rider because of the routes, support and camaraderie.

In rode this trip back to back with the Epic Switzerland and had the best two weeks on a bike I can remember - epic rides, stunning scenery, and great camaraderie. I wouldn’t ride with anyone other than Thomson, and am already planning the next adventure.

I have been riding since 1984 and this was likely the toughest and most enjoyable cycling I have ever done in my life. The route was exactly what I was looking for. I'm over the top happy by finishing the entire week with the support of Thomson. So memorable.

"Epic" is overused in today's sporting world - does it mean unique, challenging, memorable, or unmatched in beauty or experience? When I read of Thomson's "Epic Trans Pyrenees" with its 17 categorized climbs, I was convinced it was a worthy trip to celebrate my retirement (just 10 days earlier) after 40 years of professional work. All of my expectations were exceeded in this "epic" ride! Once again (it was my 2nd Thomson trip), the staff made the biggest difference! Yes, the hotels were 5-star, the food was fantastic, the biking was, well, epic; but it was the tireless dedication of all 7 staff members that made this the trip of a lifetime. Thank you Thomson for providing cherished memories that I will never forget!

Everything about this trip exceeded all expectations. This was my first trip with Thomson and the entire staff was amazing. Outstanding routes through spectacular terrain. I have ridden all the major mountain areas of western Europe, and Northern Spain is a match for any and surpasses many in it's variety, scenery, and challenge. You will need your best climbing legs. Add in the fantastic Thompson staff, and you have the perfect bike adventure. Loved every minute!

I don't have enough space to share all the superb qualities of Thomson tours. The staff, the staff to rider ratio, the rental bikes, the routes, the van support food, all the attention to detail was amazing. I could go on and on. This was my third Thompson tour and second trip that I done with my son. Because this was the EPIC trans Dolomites it had all the classic and famous climbs which we desired and really enjoyed. This was my first trip of this type - a supported bike ride. I had been considering a trip like this for many years and it more than met my expectations. I was so pleased to have selected Thomson - they did a fantastic job.

Without the support of the Thomson team I could never could have accomplished what I did over the week of cycling. The van support was fantastic. The hotels and food were first rate. As in past trips, the organization and logistics are impressive. The staff to guest ratio allows for every rider to feel always covered and able to ride at their level. Great organization, great rides, great hotels great food - what more could you ask for?

This was a great trip. It restored my enthusiasm for cycling. The riding was challenging, but not impossible. Riding a section of L’Eroica was an experience I won’t forget. The staff and the support they provided was top class. The locations we stayed and rode in were beautiful and had things to do after the riding. As you’d expect in Italy the food was good. I would thoroughly recommend this trip.

Our first 'trans' trip. We really enjoyed the 'toned down' mileage and elevation gain of this trip. Still a challenge without being totally exhausting. It was nice to come to the hotel in the early afternoon and be able enjoy the towns and nice hotels. The 3 young BCN 'kids' and Sergio were amazing and made everthing perfect, from the lunches they made, their ride leading, the dinners they organized, to an excellent 'adventure' wine tasting out in the hills of Chianti. I usually take my own bike on trips, but rented one of the Felt FRs with Rubino 25's on Reynolds wheels - Robert fit it perfectly for me, a pleasant surprise. The bike was very stable on the roads of Chianti which can sometimes be a challenge due to occasional cracks and wrinkles.

The guides, the views, the food, the cycling… all spectacular!!! So professional. Booked as a 60th birthday present to myself and brought my 22 year old son. My son had only been training for a few months and was a novice and they (Sergio in particular) took him under their wings and he biked every last mile. The support was great, the rides perfect and the countryside was amazing! Thanks Thomson!

Peter has described this as classic Spain (I totally agree) and it has everything you could want in a week of cycling: challenging climbs, beautiful roads, amazing scenery, superb guides, and some wonderful hotels. An incredible experience from start to finish. This was my seventh Thomson Bike Tours trip and they just keep getting better and better. An amazing experience overall! We had fantastic weather with virtually no wind. The rides were so beautiful and challenging. It was a dream cycling trip!!

It's certainly a big challenge to organize a trip through the remote and versatile landscapes of Morocco, but the guys from Thomson did an amazing job. The rides were carefully set out to discover the different terrains and scenery the country has to offer. It also was a joy to stay at the hotels from Xaluca. If you want a top-notch experience with challenging gravel cycling while practically moving through film sets, balanced with a cultural touch, I know who to recommend.

Bucket list trip! This was my second time in the Dolomites with Thomson Tours (11th trip overall) and it didn't disappoint. These are hard climbs so be prepared! Mortirolo, Stelvio, Gavia, Zoncolan. All iconic names in the world of cycling. The route was well planned and organized. Hotels were amazing and the Italian food can't be beat. I appreciated all the hard work put in by the staff to deal with Covid and any issues that arose during the trip. These are hard working folks who will do everything to make your trip special. Another masterpiece put on by Peter (especially bringing forth the great weather...hardly a drop of rain). Kudos!!

The Trans Swiss trip is very pretty. All the Thomson trips I have been on are so much fun; it is like going on vacation with your parents... all the hotels, food, luggage, etc. are taken care of and all you have to do is ride and have fun.

The VIP Trans Croatia trip was a great welcome back from the long pandemic break and a well conceived introduction to the Croatian coast and islands. The Thomson team delivered to their always high standards with a great route, beautiful and well situated hotels, excellent new Felt bikes, and the most supportive staff in the industry. There are plenty of challenging climbs and most of the roads are relatively car free - while the ride is not across one of the big mountain ranges of Europe, you never get tired of the endless views of the Adriatic.

My Eleventh trip with TBT. It’s been a few years and I’m kicking myself for letting it go that long. A unique mix of testing my mettle, great people, luxury hotels and food. Booking next years trip now!

Croatia is a fabulous destination for a Thomson trip. Peter has designed an awesome itinerary with challenging climbs, scenic rides, and excellent hotels. The boat rides were so fun and the climb to Svete Jure was awesome - one of the best in Europe. The staff (Ada and Albert) made the trip a joy and took great care of us. This has everything that makes Thomson trips the best!

By Day 2 I was hooked. A must for any avid cyclist. Well laid out routes, stunning views, and great staff make for an awesome cycling adventure. I’m already looking at my next trip with Thomson. 5 stars!!!

Absolutely fantastic! Thompson Bike Tours delivers once again! The route was well organized and scenic from start to finish. Challenging climbs and glorious descents. Beautiful countryside and charming Portuguese villages with cobbled streets. Every hotel was treat to stay in. The guides were consummate professionals who immediately felt like family. Thomson Bike Tours gets the big things and the little things right, they are the "Gold Standard" that all other companies strive for. Cannot wait for our next trips in 2022!

Excellent staff, beautiful scenery, and an all-around excellent week of cycling with almost no cars to share the road with. The cobblestone streets add a great opportunity for photos however come prepared as some of the cobblestone streets have very steep pitches (both up and down). Senhora da Graca and Torre are must climbs!

An incredible journey into remote country with challenging climbs, incredible views, and amazing culture.

The EPIC Trans Portugal is not for the feint of heart nor spirit; but it does provide a beautiful tour of Portugal's country side. The support staff and accommodations are top notch. I'll be back for more of the Thomson experience in 2022!

Sicily is a land of spectacular views as well as challenging terrain (short steep climbs; and long climbs). And the food/wine is excellent. Madonie National Park is very pretty and Mount Etna is a magnificent mountain. All of the above combined with the usual well support of Thomson Bike Tours gives you a unique ride to be remembered for years to come.

This was a spectacular and challenging cycling adventure. I loved cycling across the picturesque Pyrenees and climbing so many famous Cols. The route was perfectly planned on quiet roads and through charming villages. My goal was to cycle every kilometre of it regardless of weather and The Thomson Team was there to help in anyway every step of the way. This was my first Thomson Trip and I will for sure be a repeat customer. See you on the road again!

This was my 7th annual cycling trip to Europe and by far the best one. The support is outstanding, the challenge as expected and advertised.

I love the Thomson trips! Ride managers/leaders are top notch and inspire confidence that you are going to be cared for more than adequately so you can focus on enjoying the ride and getting the work done. Support vehicles were always in proper proximity to the riders so the rides flowed smoothly taking into consideration the various fitness levels of the riders. Can't wait to do more.

The trip experience was terrific and very satisfying. Terrain required concentration and required you to be totally in the moment. Fantastically mindful and relaxing. A true vacation. The roads were varied, challenging (sometimes technical but always doable). Great planning and route choice. For us perfect length and difficulty. The staff was fantastic: friendly; funny; knowledgeable; reliable; engaged; supportive; and very fit! First time we leave our bicycles at home; no regrets; rental bicycles (Felt) were great and absolutely no hassle. Thank you for a wonderful trip. First Thomson trip but certainly not our last!

This was my second Thomson trip to Portugal. I have ridden in many places and Portugal is one of my favorites. Amazing roads and terrain and some of the very best paved surfaces I have ever experienced. The lack of cars on the paved roads is so very nice and I can only remember a couple vehicles being on the gravel roads. It is such a stark contrast to riding in the states. An amazing mix of pavement and gravel - all of it quite enjoyable. The Thomson crew did an excellent job as always.
