Join the peloton for the first UCI race of the calendar year in Australia

Adelaide has it all: great weather, fantastic riding, great coffee stops, a centrally located hotel to rest and recharge and a vibrant laid back Australian atmosphere for the festival of cycling. No wonder it’s the pros’ favorite race!

The Tour Down Under is an incredible experience for sport and performance road cyclists who love pro racing, stunning routes, and soaking up some January sunshine. With its smooth tarmac, rolling hills, and breathtaking coastal roads, Adelaide offers some of the most fantastic cycling in the world.

Ride on the same roads as World Tour teams on the season’s thrilling opener. The heart of the event beats in Victoria Square, home to the team base and vibrant Fan Village, buzzing with a festival atmosphere. Best of all, our hotel is just steps away.

Non-riding partners are warmly welcomed with their own program that runs alongside the cycling trip, heading to the same race viewings. It’s a great trip to bring your non riding friends along!

LIVE Race Vieiwing Tanunda and Menglers Hill

The race starts and finishes in Tanunda. We’ll head out along quiet backroads that take us up the stunning Gorge Road. Tanunda is fantastic on race day and we’ll watch the start, grab lunch, see one pass-by and then ride up Menglers Hill to watch another loop. After watching the finish we’ll transfer back to Adelaide, or, if you’re up for some extra mileage, ride back through the vineyards and national parks to Adelaide. Tonight we will have a team dinner.

Settle in for lunch, soak up the lively race-day atmosphere, and take in the stunning views. This afternoon is all about great racing, great food, and great company. LIVE Race Viewing Willunga Hill

The day we’ve been anticipating. The pilgrimage to Willunga Hill takes us through South Australia’s famous McLaren Vale wineries. We’ll stop to watch the start of the race before heading up the hill to watch the iconic climb from the Hillside social which is based on the finish line. Depending on the heat we have two options for our return: You can choose to come back in the van or ride back. The pros ride these routes back, so the chance to hang with them is a bonus. Head to the village, or take it easy in the evening.

LIVE VIP Race viewing Stirling Start, Finish

Today will be a “Fair Dinkum” surprise as our guides will take you on a special farewell ride. You’ll be back in time to pack your bikes. It’s the final stage—and we’re going out in style with the DeTours VIP experience. We’ll head to Stirling and settle into a private viewing space to watch the riders launch into the last day of racing. The Stirling Hotel hosts our lunch—perfectly positioned right on the start/finish line, with a multi-course meal with drinks as the peloton makes seven thrilling passes right before your eyes. Then move to a private space to witness the final sprint to the line. Will enjoy some wine tasting before we head back to the city for a memorable farewell dinner.
