Itinerary Detail

Day 1

Distance

Elevation

Welcome to Andalusia

Your trip starts at Malaga Airport where our staff will meet you before the transfer to the luxurious La Bobadilla Hotel.

After lunch, orientation meeting and bike build-up you’ll head out for your first ride through the magnificent olive groves which cover this part of Andalusia – and have recently been added to the tentative list of Unesco cultural landscapes.

Day 2

Distance

Sierras Subbéticas

Today’s ride features a beautiful loop through the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park. Heading north from the hotel, you’ll ride through the familiar olive groves until you reach the white village of Iznajar. From Iznajar you’ll start the 15km (9 miles) climb that takes you high into the Subbética mountains. The next 50km (31 miles) feature a magnificent ride through the Natural Park that covers these Sierras. Enjoy traffic-free roads and stunning mountain vistas before you eventually drop back down to the lake at Iznajar.

Tip: end your ride in Iznajar at the Casa Juani Restaurant and order some typical tapas from the region. They’re the best and the restaurant has a wonderful terrace with fantastic views!

Day 3

Distance

Elevation

Over El Torcal to Antequera

Today you’ll leave behind the luxury of La Bobadilla and head westwards to the ancient city of Antequera. You’ll also leave behind the vast olive groves that surround La Bobadilla and head into a more rugged, mountainous landscape. First up is the Puerto de Alazores followed by a series of ups and downs before you eventually arrive in Villanueva de la Concepcion. Get the granny gear ready in Villanueva as the road kicks up signalling the start of the climb to El Torcal which last featured in La Vuelta a España in 2017 and features some of the most beautiful and impressive limestone landscapes in Europe.

Tip: if the legs are feeling good, 5km after Vilanueva take the left turn that leads to the Torcal de Antequera Viewpoint. The 3km to the viewpoint are tough – but the views from the top are well worth the extra effort!
