Overview

Made famous by the Giro d’Italia, the Stelvio, the Gavia, and the Mortirolo are just a few of the legendary climbs you’ll conquer on this ambitious and stunning route across the Italian Alps and Dolomites. You’ll ride the Sella Ronda, one of the most famous and impressive bike rides in Europe, and bag a number of other Giro legends including the Passo Giau and Passo Fedaia.

Our newly designed route concludes with the infamous Monte Zoncolan. Starting under a banner that reads “Welcome to the Gates of Hell”, the Zoncolan, along with the Angliru in Spain, is widely considered the most difficult climb of the Grand Tours. Make sure you have your climbing legs as we’ll also be riding the infamous Monte Crostis on the same day!

We’ve designed one of the hardest routes across the Italian Alps and Dolomites, and you’ll thank us for it.

Benvenuti sulle Alpi!

Your trip starts at Milan Malpensa Airport where our staff will meet you before the transfer to your hotel in the beautiful Alpine resort of Bormio in the Italian Alps.

After lunch, orientation meeting and bike build-up, you’ll head out for your first ride in the Italian Alps. Our warm-up ride takes you up the spectacular 18 switchback climb to Lago di Cancano.

Day 2

Giro d'Italia legends: Passo Mortirolo and Passo Gavia

Today’s ride features an iconic Italian loop.

The Mortirolo is considered the “Alpe d’Huez” of the Giro d’Italia- except it’s significantly more challenging than it’s French counterpart! With an average of 10.5% over 11km (7 miles), this is one of the toughest climbs in Europe. After conquering the Mortirolo you’ll head up the valley to Ponte di Legno to the start of the climb to the Passo Gavia, always remembered for Andy Hampsten’s epic ride through a snowstorm to win the 1988 Giro.

Day 3

Distance

Elevation

The Passo Stelvio x 2!

Another classic Italian ride today over both sides of the legendary Passo Stelvio. From Bormio you’ll head up the southern approach to the Passo Stelvio. Turn around at the summit, head down 3km and take the right turn that leads to the Passo Umbrail and the border with Switzerland. The descent takes you through the beautiful Val Mustair before leading back into Italy and Prato allo Stelvio where the northern approach to the Passo Stelvio begins.

Day 4

Into the Dolomites

You start your journey across the Dolomites today with a magnificent ride to Alleghe. The ride starts in Bolzano with 7km of flat through the valley, before startyng the first climb, the little-known but beautiful climb to Oberölgart. The Passo Costalunga is next up followed by the highlight of the day, the final climb to the Passo Fedaia, one of the iconic climbs of the Giro d’Italia and also one of the most impressive climbs in the Dolomites.

Day 5

Distance

Elevation

Sella Ronda

The classic loop around the Gruppo di Sella mountain range is one of the most famous and most spectacular bike rides in Europe. From the hotel in Alleghe you’ll head over the Passo Pordoi, Passo Sella, Passo Gardena and Passo Campolongo, before the final descent back to the hotel in Alleghe.

Day 6

Distance

Elevation

Passo Giau

Today you’ll head over to the eastern edge of the Dolomites and the Carnic Alps. Leaving Alleghe you’ll soon reach the summit of the legendary Passo Giau. Descend into the ski town of Cortina d’Ampezzo, host of the 2026 Winter Olympics, before the climbing starts again with teh climb to the Passo Tre Croci. This beautiful ride continues with the little-known, but stunningly beautiful Sella Ciampigotto before the final short climb to our hotel in Ravascletto.

Day 7

Distance

Elevation

Porta dell'Inferno: Monte Zoncolan!

Today’s ride features the most challenging climb of all the Grand Tours – the Monte Zoncolan. The climb starts under the “Porta dell’Inferno” banner and tops out after 10km (6 miles) at an average gradient of 12%. After the Zoncolan, if you can still feel your legs, try the Monte Crostis – another monster climb with a total distance of 14km (9 miles) at over 10% average!
