La Palma & La Gomera Cycling Camp
Sublime rides and perfect weather-La Palma and La Gomera should be on the bucket list of every cyclist.
La Palma has it all: big mountains, endless sunshine, perfect temperatures, and wonderful 4-star hotels to rest and recharge at the end of the day. La Isla Bonita, which is what the locals call La Palma, is the one that has remained wilder and more natural. It’s a secret gem to discover without any massive tourism, without any big resorts by the beach, only for the outdoor lovers, mountain bikers, and hikers, but we are sure it will be soon a road cycling mecca.

Itinerary Detail
Day 1
Distance
Elevation
Welcome to La Palma!
Your cycling camp starts at La Palma Airport, where our staff will meet you before the short transfer to the Parador de La Palma.
After lunch, the orientation meeting, and the bike build-up, you’ll head out for your first ride in La Palma, a gentle introduction to riding on the island with the two climbs.
The first climb of the trip starts from the capital of La Palma, Santa Cruz, a really nice colonial city by the beach, with the curiosity of having a reproduction of Cristobal Colon’s ship, the Santa Maria.
Our second climb of the day is a really scenic road to a lighthouse, with perfect views of Tenerife and Mount Teide.

Day 2
Distance
Elevation
La Cumbre Vieja
The first of your long rides, and no better way to kick things off than the road to Monte de la Luna, a gentle 20km climb at an average of 3%. From Monte de la Luna, we continue heading south to Las Salinas de Fuencaliente with a beautiful, twisty descent to the lighthouse with ocean views.
After taking photos and enjoying this natural and peaceful place, we’ll roll to the second climb of the day. On top of this, we’ll stop at a local bakery to recharge the tank!
After that point, enjoy the flatter section of the Isla de La Palma; although it will ride through the last eruption in La Palma (2021), you’ll feel the temperature. Don’t worry, it’s the lava, not your legs!
On today’s menu we have two more climbs to conquer: La Cumbrecila, 5km at 10%, and the last one, El Pilar, from the eastern side. From El Pilar it’s all downhill (the nicest one; it’s just perfect) to the hotel! except the last 100 meters to retrace to the hotel.

Day 3
Distance
Elevation
Los Muchachos
Today’s ride we can call the Queen Stage; we have one of the most challenging climbs worldwide. Roque de los Muchachos: 45km and almost 3,000 meters of climbing. To make a comparison, it’s 1,000m higher than Mount Teide.
The climb Starting from Santa Cruz at sea level, the beginning of this epic climb is with ocean views and open roads; soon it changes to a closer road inside an ancient forest, well protected from the wind. The last part of Los Muchachos is again with open views with a really deep cliff and spectacular lava formations along the road.
This climb is really steady all the time; nothing is really steep. It’s perfect as a challenge.

Day 4
Distance
Elevation
El Pilar
On today’s menu we have El Pilar, but this time from the hardest side, really consistent and step all the time.
After a quick snack stop at the summit, we have a really long descent to the ocean; the first part will be more technical, and the second half faster and straighter.
After this downhill, we will have a really flat section with no remarkable climb—time for the sprinters! Don’t miss the coffee break and the pistachio croissant at the bakery!

Day 5
Distance
Elevation
Pinar de Grafia
Today’s ride will be a great surprise. It’s the MVP! Doesn’t have a really epic climb, but has a lot of climbing with really free traffic roads and really scenic and remote places.
We’ll start the day with a really short transfer to Las Rosas. From there, we have a long downhill ahead. Enjoy your breakfast; you don’t even need to pedal until the first climb of the day, Mirador de Time!
After this short but steep climb, we’ll head north to the quietest area of La Palma.
The second climb of the day is just a road going up! Don’t worry, lunch will be waiting for us at the top of the hill.
From there is where the nicest road in La Palma, Jurassic Park without Dinosaurs, while you’ll be riding there you’ll unfastens that.
The last part of the ride will be riding along the coast with fields full of banana trees and very important to know tell wind!

Day 6
Distance
Elevation
The island of La Gomera
Previous guests have listed this ride as one of their top rides ever. It really is a spectacularly beautiful ride: great climbs, stunning views, charming villages, perfect road surface, and no traffic!
In the morning, a 30-minute flight will take you to the neighboring small island of La Gomera.
We have a short but consistent ride with two climbs in it!

Day 7
Distance
Elevation
El Vallehermoso
The ride starts from the port of San Sebastian de La Gomera and it won’t be long before you’re climbing the first of the 4 climbs on today’s ride. The island is essentially a mountain in the middle of the ocean with the highest peaks reaching 1,400m (4,600ft). A magnificent Natural Park covers all of the interior and you’ll be riding through this National Park during the entire ride. These are some of the most beautiful roads in the Canary Islands with some of the most impressive vistas. Enjoy this epic and exceptional ride!
