Willkommen in Deutschland
Our staff will meet you at Düsseldorf Airport. From the airport we’ll transfer you in our private shuttle to our hotel in Düsseldorf.
After checking in we’ll have lunch where you’ll get a chance to meet your fellow Tour de France fans. Then it’s a short orientation meeting where we’ll run through the plans for the upcoming week before heading into the city center. We will visit Rheinuferpromenade, the city’s bustling Rhine promenade where we can stop for photos by the Rheinturm TV tower, an iconic city sight . Then onto the Old Town, a square kilometre full of churches, art and pubs in the heart of the city. Discover Düsseldorf’s Altstadt packed with more than 260 bars (including the longest bar in the world), restaurants, cafés, and breweries, along with everything else that adds to the flair of a historic German city.
The Team Presentation
In the morning, we’ll take a 60 minute cruise on the Rhine! Experience the flair of the Rhenish metropolis and its attractions between Altstadt und MedienHafen on a magnificent panoramic tour, ending in Burgplatz, where the team presentation will take place. Awarded a prize as one of the most beautiful squares in post war Germany, it will be a stunning setting. After time to explore the area, late afternoon we’ll head for the Team Presentation Ceremony where we are invited as VIP’s in the hospitality area!
We’ll commence with a welcome drink and guided visit, before moving into our private viewing area. This superb experience will allow you to see all the teams before their grueling tour, get lots of photos and see every rider take the stage!
Meet a Pro Team!
In the morning, we will have an exclusive behind the scenes visit of a pro Team! A pro Team Executive will give you an amazing insight into how a pro team works. You will visit the team bus, see the bikes and equipment and be let in on some team secrets. It’s an absolute favorite of our Spectators’ Trip - a real VIP experience giving unparalleled access to the team.
Next, we will travel to Cologne. We will head to the Dom (cathedral) which stands 600 metres high and took 632 years to build! An easy couple of hours to amble along and make the most of the atmosphere of the taverns, old town, historical buildings and breweries. What a day, and the tour has not even started yet!
Tour de France LIVE Viewing: Stage 1
VIP Viewing of the Time Trial
It’s the first day of the Tour de France! We have chosen an excellent location for the hotel to allow us to be able to view the Time Trial at our leisure. In the morning your guide will escort you to the departure and arrival area in Nordpark, home to the technical areas and coaches, full of pre-race excitement and Tour de France celebrities. Then we will head to our VIP area where we will be greeted by our hostess and ex pro riders.
The Relais Etape is situated on the course and allows us to view the Time Trial in comfort. A 3 course meal, free bar, live coverage on TV until the cyclists pass right in front of us live, it is an amazing way to watch stage 1! You can feel the excitement build as you watch official vehicles zoom by, hear the helicopters above as they track the cyclists getting nearer and nearer and get a roadside view as they pass by, one by one, all day! Who will be the first in yellow?
Tour de France LIVE Viewing: Stage 2
VIP Stage Finish at Liege, Belgium
Today we’ll have a short transfer to Belgium to witness the thrill of a finish. We will arrive in plenty of time to explore the arrival areas and join in the excitement of the day. Early afternoon we will enter our VIP area by the finish line, a 3 tiered viewing area with complimentary appetizers, drinks & official TDF photos. A tour of the technical village will allow us to get up close to the finish line, see the inside of the media and TV crew area (maybe Phil and Jens will say hi), view the podium and get a real insight into the arrival area. Back to our viewing area, we will await the riders to cross the finish line. This will be a true VIP experience. We’ll spend the next 2 nights in Belgium.
Tour de France LIVE Viewing: Stage 3
VIP Access to the Departure Village at the Stage Start
As an Official Tour Operator, we have secured a visit of the ‘Team Paddock’ and Departure Village stage start in Verviers. The Departure Village allows you to see sponsors and gain VIP entry, perhaps even meeting past winners of the race. Then, it’s onto our favorite - the paddock is where all the cyclists and teams congregate pre-race. The area offers fantastic opportunities to get up-close to the riders and Tour celebrities, as well as getting a first-hand view of the inner workings of the Tour de France. This is the place to get those all-important autographs and pictures with the Tour celebrities and riders. It’s one of the most popular moments on our Spectator Trips!
Unfortunately our Tour de France Experience must come to an end.
