Benvenuti in Italia!
Our staff will meet you at Milan airport. From the airport we’ll transfer in our private shuttle to our hotel in Bergamo.
After checking in to the hotel we’ll have lunch where you’ll get a chance to meet your fellow GIRO fans. Following lunch we’ll have a short orientation meeting where we’ll run through the plans for the upcoming week. Then we will head into Bergamo’s older upper district, called Città Alta, characterized by cobblestone streets, encircled by Venetian walls and accessible by funicular. It’s home to the Duomo di Bergamo, the city cathedral. Also here are the Romanesque Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore and the grand Cappella Colleoni, a chapel with 18th-century frescoes by Tiepolo.
GIRO LIVE Viewing: Stage 15
VIP Stage Finish in Bergamo
Today we will head into Bergamo, to witness the first stage of the GIRO! We will look around the set up of the arrival areas and soak up the atmosphere of the excitement of an arrival day. After lunch we will head to our VIP area. Situated 50m from the finish Line, the VIP Dante village offers VIP hospitality and unparalleled viewing of the stage finish. A free bar, live race viewing on flat screens and a great view of the finish line, will ensure you have the most amazing experience. As the cyclists near and battle to be first over the line, you will be roadside to view it all.
Meet a Pro Team!
In the morning, we will have an exclusive behind the scenes visit of a pro Team! A pro Team Executive will give you an amazing insight into how a pro team works. GIRO LIVE Viewing: Stage 17
VIP Access to the Departure Village in Tirano
Today we will witness the thrill of a start. First we will head to the paddock, It’s where all the cyclists and teams congregate pre-race. The area offers fantastic opportunities to get up-close to the riders and Tour celebrities, as well as getting a first-hand view of the inner workings of the GIRO. This is the place to get those all-important autographs and pictures with the celebrities and riders. It’s one of the most popular moments on our Spectator Trips. Then we will head to the “Village”, an exclusive area reserved for VIP’s , generally opposite the sign on podium. This is the place to see the riders on stage and celebrities and snap memorable photos, in the luxury of this hospitality area. The best seats in the house! Champagne, canapes and live TV coverage. Once the race departs so will we, heading east to our next Hotel in Pordenone provence.
It would be incomprehensible to be so near and not visit the iconic Venice. Venice, the capital of northern Italy’s Veneto region, is built on more than 100 small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. It has no roads, just canals – including the Grand Canal thoroughfare – lined with Renaissance and Gothic palaces. The central square, Piazza San Marco, contains St. Mark’s Basilica, which is tiled with Byzantine mosaics, and the Campanile bell tower offering views of the city’s red roofs …a day will give you a snapshot of what this historical city has to offer. We will spend approximately 5 hours in Venice, your guide will accompany you to a central point and give you maps and tips on where to go to get the most out of what you want to see. A gondola ride is a must!
GIRO LIVE Viewing: Stage 19
VIP Stage Finish in Piancavallo
We know how you love summit finishes, so today we will head to the ski resort of Piancavallo for you to experience another. After lunch we will head to our VIP area near the finish line. You’ve experienced it once and the second time will be just as memorable. We’ll see what media we can meet and then watch the race live on TV until it reaches its magnificent climax. The final steep 14-km ascent, where we will be at the top, has the first 6 km at a gradient around 10% (topping 15%) and then the climb becomes milder though very hard still until the finish. This was Pantani’s win in 1998. It will be a great atmosphere.
GIRO LIVE Viewing: Stage 20
VIP Access to the Departure Village in Pordenone
Today we will have a second experience of a stage start, very local to your hotel. We’ll be in the VIP area again near the podium and will toast the riders off in style on their last stage, with our champagne breakfast. The best seats in the house!
Then we’re off! Heading to Milan we will do our best to ensure we can try and catch the final 30km or so of the race stopping along the way, if we won’t make it in time. The guide will have live updates on her phone to keep you abreast of what’s happening. We’ll have dinner in Milan, this thriving, buzzing metropolitan city, getting ready for the arrival of their famous, legendary race the next day.
GIRO LIVE Viewing: Stage 21
VIP Stage Finish in Milan Piazza Duomo
This morning is a free morning to make sure you are well rested or for you to explore some of the sites Milan has to offer. You can chill or simply stroll to the local areas and soak up the atmosphere. The early afternoon we will head over to our VIP area for the centenary celebrations. Food, seating, live coverage and complimentary beverages will be on hand. Last time we shared with Oleg Tinkov and Contador’s mother, though it’s a cert he won’t be present. A “classic” finale in the city where the GIRO was born with the finish line in Piazza Duomo. A date to remember – and you’ll be there.
In the morning we’ll drop you off at Milan Malpensa airport where it’s time say to say ‘arrivederci’ after an amazing trip.
