Your Trip Leader: Jacinta
We can´t talk about our Spectator Trips without discussing the passion, knowledge and enthusiasm of your guide, Jacinta. A true pro, Jacinta’s wild personality and boundless energy make for a truly exceptional experience. Her connections will get you the ultimate insider access and her antics will have you howling with laughter. Simply the most fun you can have at a bike race.
Benvenuti a Italia!
Our staff will meet you at Olbia airport. From the airport we’ll transfer in our private shuttle to our hotel in the centre of Alghero.
After checking in to the hotel we’ll have lunch where you’ll get a chance to meet your fellow GIRO fans. Following lunch we’ll have a short orientation meeting where we’ll run through the plans for the upcoming week. Then we will head into the historical centre of Alghero. Barcelonetta is Alghero’s well-heeled old quarter and the heartbeat of the town. Spread among its tangle of cool alleyways and grandiose piazzas is a varied choice of trattorias, plus some of the best ice-cream parlours in Sardinia. History buffs can goggle at Alghero Cathedral, built in Catalan Gothic style, and the lavish Palazzo d’Albis. And if you follow the seafront fortifications, you’ll arrive at the marina, which is filled with an armada of luxury yachts.
Meet a Pro Team!
In the morning, we will have an exclusive behind the scenes visit of a Pro Team!
A pro Team Executive will give you an amazing insight into how a pro team works. You will visit the team bus, see the bikes and equipment and be let in on some team secrets. It’s an absolute favorite on our Spectators’ Trip-a real VIP experience giving unparalleled access to the team. At lunchtime we will take a boat trip for the afternoon. The Andrea Jenson was built in 1938 and was used as a fishing boat in the North Sea for 50 years. It took its retirement in the late Eighties, and its wooden hull and winged sails have carried pleasure seekers round the Sea of Sardinia ever since. On this trip, we’ll sail north from Alghero, towards the Capo Caccia, dolphin spotting along the way.
The Team Presentation
Today it’s time to watch the team presentation in Alghero! This superb experience will allow you to see all the teams before their grueling tour, get lots of photos and see every rider take the stage! No doubt this is going to be an amazing show for the 100th GIRO and we’ll be there to witness it all!
GIRO LIVE Viewing: Stage 1
VIP Stage Finish in Olbia
Today we will head East to the Sardinian Town of Olbia, to witness the first stage of the GIRO! On arrival we will drop our bags at the hotel and head straight into Olbia to soak up the amazing atmosphere. After lunch we will head to our VIP area. Situated 50m from the finish Line, the VIP Dante village offers VIP hospitality and unparalleled viewing of the stage finish. A free bar, live race viewing on flat screens and a great view of the finish line, will ensure you have the most amazing experience. As the cyclists near and work hard for the bunch sprint, who will be the first in pink?
GIRO LIVE Viewing: Stage 2
VIP Access to the Departure Village at the Stage Start in Olbia
Today we will witness the thrill of a start. First we will head to the paddock, It’s where all the cyclists and teams congregate pre-race. The area offers fantastic opportunities to get up-close to the riders and Tour celebrities, as well as getting a first-hand view of the inner workings of the GIRO. This is the place to get those all-important autographs and pictures with the Tour celebrities and riders. It’s one of the most popular moments on our Spectator Trips. Then we will head to the “Village”, an exclusive area reserved for VIP’s, opposite the sign on podium. This is the place to see the riders on stage and celebrities and snap memorable photos, in the luxury of this hospitality area. The best seats in the house! Champagne, canapes and live TV coverage. Once the race departs so will we. Heading South to Sardinia’s capital, Cagliari.
GIRO LIVE Viewing: Stage 3
VIP Stage Finish in Cagliari
In the morning you will have free time to explore Cagliari. Cagliari is a picturesque and charming destination leaving a wonderful memory, for its thousands-year old history, testified by the remains of ancient Roman and Punic civilisations, for its Archeologic and Art, for the courtesy and hospitality of the inhabitants, as well as for its gourmet specialities and its crystal waters. It will be a vibrant atmosphere to host the third stage. After lunch we will head to our VIP area near the finish line. You’ve experienced it once and the second time will be just as memorable in this beautiful city. We’ll see what media we can meet and then watch the race live on TV, until it reaches its magnificent climax, as the sprinters head towards the finish line for a spectacular end to the Sardinia stages.
Unfortunately our GIRO Experience has come to an end. We’ll drop you off at Olbia Airport, safe travels!
