Fabulous cycling experience, met my expectations. Thanks Thomson.
Great trip! I really have to hand it to Peter to be able to change plans quickly to meet weather restraints, border guard problems, and time tables with the Giro to come up with excellent variations! Although, the Monte Padrio might not have been the best alternative to the Gavia!
Thomson is the best in the business of high-performance bicycle trips. I have traveled with many companies in the past, but for challenging trips where the emphasis is on bicycle riding, there are none better than Thomson. The van support is excellent. In a typical Thomson tour, the clients are divided into several small groups, according to ability, with around 10 people/group. Each group has a support van and 1-2 guides. Although I have been the “lanterne Rouge” on many occasions, I have never felt that I was poorly supported, or forgotten. Many times it seems as if one is training and supported as in a professional team ! The guides are all excellent cyclists, and there are several of them riding at a time. There are enough vans on the roads to carry every single rider in a tour, unlike many other companies. I hope to do many more trips with them.
Awesome trip. Everything was super easy, except the riding!
Outstanding trip with staff who truly care about the guests. It was awesome.
This particular trip represented many personal goals, all met in one trip. The Sella Ronda circuit was the single best day of my life on a bicycle. The others, particularly Passo dello Stelvio, were challenging and satisfying.
There is a Thompson signature, you should try to have more guide like Toni Folque….
A very challenging, inspiring trip. Memorable. Well-organized. I want to find a way to improve my own performance, so that I could enjoy the trips even more.
I’ve had some memorable weeks cycling with Thomson and had such high expectations of the Giro trip. They were blown away. Quite simply the best week that I’ve had on a bike - many thanks.
The trip was well organised, as was the weather; wet weather gear not used at all! There were great options to suit all abilities and tiring legs as the week progressed, though I was glad I had done some training first.
A superb trip.
This was my first bike tour and for a non hill climber, I had concerns that it may be a struggle. However, I found the KOM superb. The communication before and during the trip was excellent. I felt prepared. The support and organisation during the rides was brilliant. The rides were challenging, but with three different groups, all with their own guides and support vans, it meant that I could go at my own pace without pressure. The guides were friendly, knowledgable and encouraging. The scenery was breathtaking. I look forward to riding with Thomson again
This is the third trip we have done with Thomson. It will for sure not be our last. Every aspect of this trip was so well planned out and executed. The rides were challenging and enjoyable, the accommodation was top notch and the team was fantastic. I have yet to come back from a Thomson trip with any wishes unfulfilled. This was a different dynamic for us, getting to experience a grand tour, and it exceeded my expectations in every way. Kudos on another great trip - we’ll be back!
Almost every ride was the best ride I’ve ever done, and the guides always make you feel good about your riding, even when you’re at the back of the bus.
An excellent combination of riding and tour (Giro) viewing. The rides were challenging and beautiful. Thomson did great job of route selection to have us experience some of the best climbs in the area. All the guides were excellent. They were knowledgeable, personable and a pleasure to ride and interact with.
The ride manager and ride leaders are the reason I keep coming back for more trips. Their professionalism, support and friendship makes these trips super fun.
Amazing trip. Excellent climbing and descending. Some of the most memorable rides I have ever done. The support, food and accommodation were great.
Well organised & well executed. It was our first trip with a bike tour company, having organised things ourselves in the past. Thomson bike tours was worth every cent.
I am just an average rider so this was the most difficult thing I have ever done in my life. It was also the best trip of my life and will do another when I can.
I found the whole Thomson experience to be first class, from booking through to riding. The team were all first class and happy to help and accommodate anything required. I will be back!
Our GIRO KOM Challenge provides the perfect mix of LIVE race-viewing and challenging and rewarding rides on the legendary routes and climbs of the GIRO in the Italian Alps & Dolomites.
The Giro Organisers have designed an exciting route this year with a climb-intensive last 10 days. They’ve also been quite creative with the inclusion of many lesser-known but really spectacular climbs such as the Colle del Nivolet, Colle San Carlo and Passo Manghen.
Our trip focuses on these last 10 days and is almost as climb-intensive as the Giro itself. Join us and you’ll ride the actual routes of several key stages and you’ll conquer an impressive list of the best climbs that Italy has to offer. Colle del Nivolet, Colle San Carlo, Passo Manghen all feature in our challenging ride program as well as the Passo Mortirolo, Passo Gavia, Passo Ghisallo, Passo Sella, Passo Pordoi and the Passo San Pellegrino, and of course the Passo Stelvio (weather-permitting).
