Port de Bales and Peyresourde
Today’s route features one of the toughest climbs in the Pyrenees, the HC Port de Bales. The Port de Bales features in Stage 12 of this years Tour de France so expect to be cheered up the climb by the many fans that will already be camped out on the famous slopes.
Enjoy the view at the summit of the endless, rolling green mountains before the road heads downwards towards Luchon. Before climbing up to our Private Race Viewing Hospitality Tents on the mountainside of the summit finish in Peyragudes there’s a big day ahead of us. From our hotel in St Lary we’ll head up the Col de Val Louron-Azet followed by the climb to the Col de Peyresourde. Enjoy a crepe at the famous creperie on top of the Peyresourde before the short descent and the final climb to the finish in Peyragudes.

We saved the best for last! Our objective today is the infamous Col du Tourmalet. Rising to a height of over 2000m, the Tourmalet is one of the highest passes in the Pyrenees and definitely one of the most challenging.
Combined with the Col d’Aspin on the way there and the Hourquette d’Ancizan on the way home and you have a huge day on the bike. The photo opportunity at the top of Tourmalet is a well-earned reward.
