What meals are included in the trips?
All breakfasts are usually included in each trip. Most dinners are included except usually 2 or 3 nights where we allow you to choose your own dining arrangements. Lunches vary for each trip. Please check each individual trip for a detailed description of meals.
What are the hotels like?
Our hotels vary from top-quality 2-star to luxury 4-star hotels. On each trip the hotels are personally selected by Peter based on the following criteria:
- Quality: whether it be a 2-star or a 4-star the hotel must show a minimum level of quality i.e. comfortable, clean rooms with ensuite bathrooms.
-
Location: the location is of key importance. Strategic locations are chosen to allow us to ride from and to the hotel hence eliminating van transfers.
- Meals: the meals must be adapted to avid cyclists! No "nouvelle cuisine" - we need carbs and lots of them so we take special care in ensuring that the hotels serve hearty breakfasts and dinners.
- Character: when possible we try to select hotels that reflect the character and charm of the region.
Do the meal plans cater for guests with special diet requirements?
Yes, we ensure that all meal plans cater for special diet requirements. Please specify any special diet requirements or food allergies when reserving your trip.
Do you provide bicycles?
We know you need a good bike to feel really comfortable and enjoy our trips, so we strongly recommend that you bring your own bike. If you need advice on how to transport your bike we can help you. If really necessary we can provide a limited number of good quality rental bikes through our local sponsor. Please contact Peter if you have any further questions.
How fit do I need to be?
Our trips are designed for avid cyclists capable of riding upwards of 50 miles per day in mountainous terrain. If you have any questions regarding whether our trips are suitable for you please contact Peter
On all our trips support vans are available for those who choose not to ride the entire daily itinerary.
What if I have a mechanical problem?
An experience bicycle mechanic will be present on all trips.
What type of clothing do I need to bring?
If the trip includes riding in the mountains then you will need warm, waterproof clothing. A day in the Pyrenees in the summer can vary from 90 degree baking sunshine to 40 degrees with freezing rain. We will provide you with specific requirements for each trip in your trip preparation package.
Do you cater for non-cyclists?
Some of our trips are suitable for non-cyclists. Please contact Peter for full details.
What gears will I need?
This varies for each trip. Peter will provide you with his recommended gear ratios in your trip preparation package. If you have any questions please contact Peter.
